My Nikon D3000 Review – Should You Buy This Camera?
Technology has improved by leaps and bounds and it is no surprise how popular digital SLR cameras are nowadays. I always thought that high quality professional pictures were reserved only for those with a big wallet but times have changed. Like mobile phones, SLR cameras are readily available and extremely affordable even for those on a fairly tight budget.
The difference in picture quality? It is almost like asking the difference between DVD and VCD or a HD LCD television compared with a normal one. There is no comparing the two especially when one is simply much superior.
I have researched dozens of Nikon D3000 Reviews but have found many of them were too technical, confusing or simply lacking any useful information. Enjoy our thorough review on this ‘best seller’ model the and see whether the Nikon D3000 Price tag is right for you.

Image is Everything…
The Nikon D3000 sensor allows the photographer to capture images at a modest 10.2MP resolution. This means there are 10.2 million pixels on the camera sensor that work to capture enough light for a superior picture quality.
For an entry level DSLR 10.2 megapixels quite adequate. Images in a high 3648 x 2736 resolution can be captured with ease. This provides for 8 x 10″ prints in an excellent quality of 324 dpi (dots per inch) or good quality photos at 13 x 19″ size in 203 dpi.
What does all this mean? The more pixels or dots you fit into a picture the higher the quality of the image but also the smaller the size. This allows you the flexibility to chose the whether you want larger print sizes at lower quality of smaller print sizes at superior quality.
The Nikon D3000 Price camera features a DX-format sensor. Although this sensor captures slightly smaller images than the Nikon FX-format cameras it is much more cost effective, lighter in weight and definitely smaller in size. This means that any Nikon D3000 Lenses you equip will also be cheaper and lighter to carry around.
Snap Away to your Heart’s Content…
Let’s face it. There’s nothing worse than missing a golden moment. Whether you are taking pictures at a sporting event, out in the wild or watching a Grand Prix event you need a camera that can take photos at a super fast rate.
Nikon solves this simple problem by dishing out multi-burst shots at at 3 frames per second. This means you can simply squeeze the trigger button and let the camera do all the work for you.
One thing to watch out for is to make sure you use a class 6 or faster memory card. The Nikon D3000 has a buffer of 6 shots, this means that if your memory card is too slow the buffer on the camera will fill up preventing you from taking any further pictures.

Give Me Superior Display and Ease…
The Nikon D3000 features a super large full color 3-inch LCD display. This allows you to review your pictures and share them with complete ease. Featuring a flexible 170 degree wide-angle your viewing experience doesn’t get any simpler than this.
There are also 6 automatic exposure scene modes in sports, portrait, landscape, close-up, child and night portrait providing for stunning results and flexibility.
Dials and displays are intuitive and easy to use. If you want to switch functions and modes simply turn the dial and presto!
Seeing in the Dark…
Flash photography is not always appropriate especially in places such as museums, night time landscape shots, churches, art galleries, indoor sports. If you want to take clear pictures in low lit situations then you need to have a large ISO range. The sensitivity of the image sensor is measured by ISO with higher settings used for darker situations to get faster shutter speeds.
The Nikon D3000 Price camera has a dynamic ISO range of 100-1600. This provides exceptional results for a entry level DSLR camera. While more expensive models such as the Nikon D7000 have a much higher range from 100-6400 they are also 3-4 times more expensive.
You’ll be glad to know that a range of 100-1600 is more than enough for amateur photographers even if they are taking professional low light photos.

Nikon D3000 Lenses, Autofocus and Dynamic Tracking…
The Nikon D3000 Price camera has a new 11 point Autofocus system which is leaps and bounds above the older 3 point AF system. With dynamic tracking and 3D tracking events images are sharp and events such as sports are a no brainer. The autofocus is extremely fast and quite responsive at the same time as well. Shutter speeds are split second which help eliminate shutter lag when taking critical shots. Nothing worse missing the perfect shot due to the the delay that happens from the time you press the trigger until the time the camera takes the shot.
The Nikon D3000 is compatible with any Nikkor DX and AF-S lens. A standard kit typically comes with the Nikkor 18-55mm AF-S DX lens. It is important to note that with some older models of Nikkor or AF lens, will only function in manual mode. This model is not fitted with an optical image stabilizer but on most newer lens Vibration Reduction (VR) is available to use. Perfect for times when you do not have a tripod.

Any Complaints?
I found very few complaints about this camera on Nikon D3000 review websites online. While some may miss it, this camera does not have a “live view” feature. Although it is also bigger than most point-and-shoot cameras it is quite small in size as a DSLR camera.
